When to use it
In class
Make project groups in seconds. Tags keep each grade or each table spread across groups.
In meetings and workshops
Mix people from different teams for breakout rooms, and pick a leader for each group.
Sports and games
Split players into even sides. Tag goalkeepers so each side gets one.
How it stays fair
The list is shuffled so every order is equally likely, then people are dealt to teams one by one, like cards. People with the same tag are dealt together, so each tag spreads as evenly as the numbers allow. Leaders are picked at random inside each team. See how it works
Questions
What happens if the numbers do not divide evenly?
Some teams get one more person than others. No team is ever two or more people bigger.
How do tags work?
Write a tag after # on any line, like Leo #boys or Ana #advanced. People with the same tag are spread across teams instead of ending up together.
Can I keep two people apart or together?
Not yet. Give them different tags to make it less likely they share a team.
How many people can I split?
At least 500 people into 100 teams works smoothly.
